Multi core support

Data mining and statistical analysis projects are heavy consumers of CPU power and memory. Recent changes in computer hardware and operating systems brought new capabilities to the hands of end users and personal computers. Analysis Studio was developed to meet these new developments and utilize multi core power as well as minimal (slow) disk caching during calculations in data mining projects. Analysis Studio manages the number of active calculation processes to achieve optimal calculation time. Recent tests have shown up to 500% improvement in calculations time done on an Intel Core i7 with 4 cores and 2 threads per cores (hyper threading). Supported multi core (thread) processes include: Brief analysis (descriptive statistics), data correlations, frequency tables and cross tab computations.

In order to increase the number of processes used for calculations click the Options under the tools menu. And set the number of parallel processes as seen in the image below.

Analysis studio - tools menu

Analysis Studio optins screen - use multiple cpus

The number of parallel processes should match the number of cores sensed by your operating system. Check how many cores are sensed by your operating system in the Windows task manager under the "Performance" tab.
